Ski in Style

Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean that you don’t need to wear sunglasses. The sun’s rays are still as damaging as they are in the summer (on the odd occasion when they manage to make it through the clouds..!).

We promised a little more information about why it is extra important to wear sunglasses if you’re skiing/snowboarding this winter, so here it is.

The ultraviolet rays from the sun will always reflect off the ground no matter the weather, but because of snow and ice’s highly reflective properties this can increase the amount of UV radiation you receive.

The ultraviolet exposure is also known to be stronger at higher altitudes as well, meaning that snowy mountain up high really can be damaging to your eyes in more ways than one.

So the verdict is, if you’re lucky enough to be spending some time this winter on the slopes, or maybe you’ve just climbed the local hill in hopes for some serious sledging, make sure you’re wearing those sunglasses.

Another tip is if you wear polarized lenses this will also help to reduce glare which is especially helpful when skiing or snowboarding. We can put polarized lenses in to any of our frames for you, for just £50. If you would like this option, please contact us and we can arrange it!

If you need some sartorial inspiration we have inserted some images of our favourite retro ski sunny styles. Enjoy!
